This is a way of exhibiting aggressiveness and negative behaviors indirectly or passively. An individual who is a passive aggressive does not express negative emotions such as anger, irritation, and hatred directly, but looks for ways that would somehow cover up his or her true emotions. To others, such people may at first seem to be generous and caring; however after spending some time with them, one may realize how their behavior can be damaging.
A person who shows such behavior is suffering from a personality disorder. Passive aggressive behavior may get triggered in a person due to genetics and environmental factors both, while the environment may play a bigger role. The main reason why one may develop this is because he or she would not have been allowed to express their true emotions earlier.
This is usually the time of one’s childhood, during which the child has the fear of conforming to the parents’ wishes or else being severely punished. Therefore, from the very beginning, the child learns to suppress his/her true emotions and exhibit the fake ones.
