Choosing to live a sedentary lifestyle isn't a wise thing to do. Cutting off exercise in your daily routine would really make you unhealthy and put you at risk for many illnesses. If you want to know the health risks involved here then you should continue reading this article.
A sedentary lifestyle is defined as one, which does not include any form of exercise or physical activity. A person who has adopted such a lifestyle may either not have enough time or energy to spend on exercise, or may simply run away from it because it involves effort.
In present times, sedentary lifestyles are extremely common, and most people seem to engage in them. For instance, almost every person spends a large portion of their day on the computer or viewing their favorite shows on TV. Furthermore, everything has become so easy and accessible that one hardly gets the opportunity to get on their feet and move around.
Even though one may come across various articles and TV shows that would emphasize over the importance of exercise, people tend to ignore these and do not realize its importance. Including leisure activities in one's daily routine is highly important if you do not want a dull life, but excluding exercise completely is just not a sensible idea.
When people are not active, their muscles have no work except to become stiff while being in the same posture. It is essential to utilize the body muscles so that they remain active and do their job well. When this is not done, the circulation of blood also gets affected, as it becomes slow and may not reach all the body parts adequately.
Laziness and lack of motivation is what stops most people from exercising. You just need to keep reminding yourself that you are falling into a pit of illnesses, if you do not eliminate laziness. The negative effects that one may cause over his or her health due to a sedentary lifestyle are numerous.
A lifestyle that consists of no physical activity and an unhealthy diet leads to obesity. Even though some may argue that most obese people are like that because they have it in their genes; lack of exercise and high calories are usually the main cause.
If a person keeps on consuming a diet that is high in fats and calories, without exercise at all, sooner or later he or she will be likely to acquire a heart disease. Coronary heart disease commonly takes place, when one is taking in too many calories and not exercising. Once the fats and cholesterol start taking their toll over the blood vessels by blocking them, a heart attack is usually what results.
Not only are these but cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes and osteoporosis also commonly associated with sedentary lifestyles.
