Remedy For Tonsillitis That Is Available At Home

If one day you wake up and you feel your throat is sore and you are having a hard time swallowing then you are suffering from tonsillitis. Read this article for information on what to do when you acquire this sickness.
Virus and bacteria causes tonsils to swell. If this happens, a person with the infection will find it difficult and painful to swallow. The said infection is referred to as tonsillitis. Tonsillitis if treated with antibiotics may be healed within a span of five days to one week. However, if the cause of tonsillitis is a virus, the healing will depend on what type of virus is involved. Normally, the body fights the virus on its own.

Tonsils are the small clump of lymph tissues we can see at the back part of the mouth at the side of the palate. It helps keep away bacteria that enters the through the mouth that can cause infections in the sinuses and throat.

If a person is suffering from a swollen throat, it is said that he has tonsillitis. Bacteria or virus can cause irritation on the tonsils and making it swell. Infection can also be detected by the presence of white or yellow pus on the tonsils. Aside from sore throat and fever, a person with tonsillitis can also experience headache, ear aches, stiff neck, body pains and nasal congestions.

A streptococcus bacterium is one of the causes of tonsillitis. It is the same type of bacteria that causes Strep throat. Viruses that bring about colds such as rhinovirus, corona virus and influenza can also cause tonsillitis. Inability to eliminate toxins from the body also causes tonsillitis.

If tonsillitis caused by bacteria is treated with antibiotics, the swelling will subside within five to seven days. However, if it is a viral tonsillitis, the body will fight the infection on its own. However, medications can be taken to minimize the pain. If tonsillitis reoccurs, it may cause difficulty in breathing. Doctors may then suggest to remove the swollen tonsils.

A person with tonsillitis experience difficulty in swallowing. He can experience pain while swallowing due to the swollen tonsils. There are remedies that are available in our homes to help ease the pain of tonsillitis and contribute to the faster healing of the inflamed tonsils. Contrary to what most people believed about avoiding cold foods when suffering from tonsillitis, cold beverages help in making tonsils numb, thus, lessening the pain. Lime juice mixed with hot water and salt also helps in easing the pain in the tonsils. Applying a paste of fig by boiling fig and grinding it then applying it externally on the throat minimizes the symptoms of tonsillitis. Taking a lot of water and doing activities that force the body to sweat a lot also helps in removing toxins from the body and the kidneys.
