There are lots of risks involved in being an entrepreneur.
Things were not any different for me when I decided to start my own event
management company. My good communication, networking, and interpersonal skills
allowed me to gain clients within the first few months of setting up business.
As in other successful business stories, I gave a lot of importance to
customization of services to ensure maximum satisfaction of my clients. From
proper planning to execution, it is a chain of events soldered together and any
slight flaw anywhere in the chain can adversely affect business. I would not
underestimate the importance of proper time management in this business. The
old adage, "Time is money", is particularly true for an event
management company. We organize weddings, birthday parties, anniversary
parties, get-together parties, and even kitty parties. But I have always felt
the real challenge for me was to host events at the corporate level, especially
an event for a product launch.
When I speak about product launches, the most challenging
situation that I faced was during the launch of a new pharmaceutical product.
It was challenging because of the various obstacles that I had to overcome
right from day one. My inability to foresee a technological problem, and the
fact that I did not have a backup plan, caused me a lot of headache. The
prelaunch session consisted of activities such as sending out launch letters to
MDs and pharmacists, arranging for symposia and video news releases, press
relations, and press kit. After getting a confirmation from people across
different places, I had to arrange for the venue, accommodation of the guests,
and constantly needed various kinds of information. It works as a linked chain.
Keeping touch with people every minute sending queries, giving approvals, and
taking suggestions are of vital importance. Constant interaction over e-mail,
exchanging presentations and receiving tariff plans from hotels located in
different cities, all formed an essential part of the work. So imagine how
terrible it was for me if the Outlook Express e-mail client did not work? Life it
seemed came to a standstill when I could not send e-mails. I composed a mail,
attached an important document to be sent, and clicked on the 'Send' button,
but nothing happened. Communication with my client and the staff of the hotel
where the event was planned to be hosted, was breaking down. I tried to resolve
the issue on my own, but it was not working. One of my colleagues suggested to
get help from a company called iYogi, and gave me a toll free number to
call.
With a toll free number I was told that I could get
connected to an iYogi technician anytime anywhere and ask for E-mail support. I decided to give it a
try and within minutes got connected to an iYogi technician. I explained my
problem to the support specialist and he seemed to thoroughly understand it. I
gave consent to take remote access to my system so that he could fix the issue
with Outlook Express as quickly as possible. With the help of the expert
technician I was able to install security
software, which automatically scanned all my e-mails and attachments for
viruses. Now I do not worry about any technology related problem hampering my
business. I know I have the 24x7 support service of iYogi to fall back on.
