How to Be Witty

How can you learn to be witty? How can you make the transaction from Average Joe, to the entertaining conversationalist?

 

To be witty often consist of having a more casual and clever
approach to comedy, oppose to the more "in your face" comedy
you'll need to provide when being funny. A witty person should
keep the mood light, and the conversation amusing.
A witty conversation is most likely the way good friends, with
equal humor talk to each other. Try to test this way of talking
in everyday situations, with people you may not now as well.
This will convey confidence, and people will accept your charming ways.
All in all, have a positive outlook to life so that
your comments are witty and joyful.

One of the other big lessons that you'll need to learn is
the art of teasing. If you try to be witty all the time it will
look forced, instead you should try holding back and just give the
conversation a boost sometimes. Your goal is to be looked at as
a witty person, not the guy who tries to be witty all the time.
This will only hurt your cause, remember witty comments are often
smart and topic related. Ether a nice play on words can be
utilized, or triggering the community memory of the people
involved in the conversation. A good example is, when you say
something everybody remembers from a popular movie, but remember
it should be topic related.

One critical aspect of being witty is the art of thinking on your feet.
Witty comments and remarks often comes just as fast as any other natural
answer do in a dialog, the main difference is that it is a witty remark.
There is a difference between a good comeback and the comeback that
arrives a minute late. If you are the latter, you're better off saying nothing.

So, are you a smart person if your able to be witty? Most likely you
have good social antennas. Cause remember a witty remark should be smart,
not hypocritical!
