Link popularity has been a raging topic over the previous few years as search engines have used the number of inbound links to proxy for the popularity of a website--hence the term link popularity. Webmasters sadly took high advantage of the search engines, creating massive link farms, where tons or thousands of internet sites would band along and every one link to each different, artificially inflating their sites' link popularity versus those of web sites that did not employ such 'black hat' linking strategies.
Due to intensive banning of the various ways of link farming and net rings, a recently popularized method of gaining the coveted inbound links has been that of writing articles and submitting these articles to article directories. These article directories become a dissemination point for the articles and their embedded links, permitting the inbound links to propagate quite naturally on the net, creating a resurgence in the subject of link popularity.
Once again, automation has dominated the day, and website house owners haven't solely automated the submission of articles, but have developed software that searches the web for bits and items of articles that may be reformed to form new articles. Nonsense articles, however articles nonetheless. So, the most recent whisper on the internet is that the most important search engine of all will soon be banning sites created with these varieties of software.
However, back to the initial topic. Forgive my rant.
After you submit articles to reputable article directories and allow them to publish your works along with your links intact, will your link popularity go up?
My experience tells me that it does. Article marketing is my primary type of advertising, search engine optimization, and link popularity building, and in the span of 9 months, I've got sent 3 totally different websites to high levels of link popularity. After all, my most up-to-date site addition, launched on August three of this year (these days is September 1) has 41 inbound links in Google and thirty one inbound links in Yahoo, and the only, I repeat only, method of promotion has been article marketing. Another interesting statistic: the web site was indexed by Google in only 3 days, with no website submission whatsoever, only article marketing.
Thus, it works for me. If you are article marketing yourself, you must understand that it works for you. If not, provide it a try. There could solely be a limited window of time before 'black hat' net tricksters will employ techniques that can once more enrage the search engines and build link popularity as we grasp it a thing of the past.
