Revision tips are very important when one needs to prepare for an exam. Using variety of resources, keeping oneself fuelled up and organizing things is important.
Every student knows that revision can be stressful, so here are 5 revision tips that can help alleviate some of the hassle and make your pre-exam study effective.
Don’t leave it until the last minute – First things first; you can always make things easier on yourself by giving yourself as much time as possible. Leaving things to the last minute is asking for un-necessary anxiety. You may not enjoy revising but those who start it earlier rather than later will approach exams with a lot more confidence than those who opt for last minute cramming!
Keep things organise – Wherever you do revision keep your working environment organised. This means throwing away litter as you work, keeping your pens and papers organised and de-cluttering in general. If you work space is calm and collected you will find that your revision attitude will follow. When you finish revision for the day, why not take the time to tidy up and prepare your work space for the next time you’ll get back to work? This will allow you to start a fresh in session without the hassle of pre-revision clearing.
Use a variety of resources – Be imaginative with your revision and keep yourself engaged with any topic by using a variety of resources. Dip in and out of your notes, revision tips, exercise books, textbooks and internet resources to keep subjects interesting and appealing. Staring at the same book for 3 hours is never a good idea.
Reward yourself- Don’t be too hard on yourself, if you feel you’re waning but have completed a hefty section of your intended subject then take a break and reward yourself. Whether that means having that packet of crisps you crave, or taking some time out on the PlayStation allow yourself to have some fun during your revision schedule. If you set yourself targets followed by rewards you can keep yourself motivated for much longer and achieve a sense of pride when you reach your goals.
Keep yourself fuelled up- As well as rewarding yourself with some yummy goodies now and then, always make sure that you are fully fuelled and hydrated before beginning your revision. An important revision tip is to never start work on an empty stomach. Doing so could leave you frustrated and grumpy or lead to a headache that will not bode well for a productive revision session. Make sure you always have a drink to hand whilst you work.
