Hypnosis can help you stop smoking – without drugs, without equipment and without the need for repeated visits.
Quitting
the cancer sticks is one of the hardest things an adult human will ever try to
do. Research has suggested that nicotine itself is more addictive than heroin.
The withdrawal symptoms are appalling, and can include any of the following:
nervousness, irritability, fear, lack of sleep, shaking, a propensity for
catching every illness on the go, blurred vision and light headedness. People
who try to stop smoking unaided
often go through all of these symptoms and more only to find that they have
picked the habit up again a year or so later. Many people do not even get this
far: quitting, going through all of the horrible side effects (which stop after
a couple of weeks, for a while at least) only to start smoking again once the
first of the worst bits is already over.
One
says “the first of the worst bits” because quitting smoking is actually a
succession of horrors like those alluded to above. You get over one two week
bout, you are fine for a month and then you get hit by all of those symptoms
again. After a while, it goes in two month cycles, then six – but it is always
there. So how is anyone supposed to stop
smoking once the habit and the addiction have been formed? Hypnosis can be the perfect answer.
Hypnosis,
the recent subject of much favourable press in the alternative remedies
sections of national newspapers, may have the answer. Hypnotherapy has long
been recognised as a powerful reinforcing technique in terms of positive
behaviour patterns – where repetition and persuasion convince the subconscious
to promote certain beneficial behaviour patterns and actions on a regular
basis. By the same token, hypnotherapy can reinforce persuasive ideas that are
designed to stop the subconscious from allowing destructive or harmful
behaviours to take place like smoking, which is one of the most destructive
behaviours of all.
No
smoker needs to be told what the benefits are of not smoking. No smoker needs
to be told that he or she needs to stop smoking. He or she already knows that.
But he or she also knows that he or she has tried every pill, every potion,
every patch and every gum. He or she has, literally, tried everything. Except
perhaps hypnosis.
Well,
it is worth a try. Hypnosis is gaining a lot of currency amongst mainstream
press as the medical profession starts admitting that it gets a lot of things
right without the need for drugs or costly equipment.
Hypnotherapy
can help you stop smoking, just as
it can help people sleep better, or manage their anger better or fear flying
less. Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can convert the subconscious’ harmful
impulses into good ones. The New Year is coming. Why not give it a go?
