Choosing the right kind of air conditioning unit meeting your requirements can be a little tricky. The best solution is to be guided by a company who handles installation and maintenance of various types of air conditioning unit.

Air conditioning is ideal for many UK businesses – particularly public facing businesses like bars and restaurants, where the air conditioning is used as much for keeping a fragrant and pleasant atmosphere as for temperature control. Air conditioning unit is also an integral part of the server rooms that run all of Britain’s businesses – without the air conditioning unit, those servers would eventually overheat and burn, taking all the data that British businesses rely on with them.

There are several distinct types of air conditioning unit, all of which have their own particular uses and applications. How does one choose the right one for one’s job?

Of the four types of air conditioning unit, only two have any really specific applications – and here they are not so much applications as common uses. In other words: air conditioning units of any kind can be used in pretty much any space. The unit you actually choose will depend on three things: what kind of space you have, what kind of budget you are working to and what you want the air conditioning system to do.

So, for example: if you want an air conditioning unit for your bar or pub, you are probably going to be best served by either a duct air conditioning system, or a cassette air conditioning unit. The cassette unit is most popularly seen in offices, because it is cheaper and quicker to fit than a ducted system, and can deliver air conditioning in four directions at once. The cassette unit hangs from the ceiling of your bar and blows its conditioned air out of four distinct faces – giving a good all round coverage for freshness and temperature control. The ducted air conditioning unit offers a better coverage even than this, and is invisible, which means of course that it will not in any way detract from the aesthetics of your place. If, say, you have a Western theme bar then using a duct unit is probably a good idea – because your customers cannot see the air conditioning system they don’t have to have their illusions spoiled. As far as we are aware, there never was any visible air conditioning unit in the Old Wild West!

If you are looking to cool a server room, you are probably going to be best served by using a wall mounted air conditioning unit. The wall mounted unit is the quickest kind of unit to fit and the cheapest to buy. In a server room you are not really interested in aesthetics so much as how you can keep a functional place cool for as little money as possible. All a server needs is to stay cold – it doesn’t have to have its air diffused or deflected or whatever.

A floor set air conditioning unit is used where there is no space on wall or ceiling to properly mount an air conditioning system. The floor mounted unit offers much the same coverage and setup time as a wall mounted unit, and is only slightly more expensive to buy.
