When you watch TV, read newspapers, hear the radio, or even browse the Net, what do you notice aside from the shows, programs or favorite news you typically frequent? Yes, advertisement everywhere. And quite ironically, advertisers are also wise enough to broadcast to their consumers and the wide-eyed impressionable public that we do need stuff and a lot of stuff just to be happy.

Yes, advertisement everywhere. And quite ironically, advertisers are also wise enough to broadcast to their consumers and the wide-eyed impressionable public that we do need stuff and a lot of stuff just to be happy.

Yeah, right.

It's like them telling to our faces that we are incomplete if we don't buy the latest cellphone model, we'll be left out if we don't have the latest gadget, we'll look unkempt if we don't have the latest makeup collection/grooming things/toiletries if we don't have "that" latest item from the collection of that famous actress/starlet/designer. That we stink like hell if we don't douse ourselves with that latest perfume this and that actress supposedly use (hmmm...she was only paid to promote that product actually for a length of contract. The advertisers sure know how to do their work--actually making us foolish to think that the celebrity really use that brand or thing everyday, as if).

But well, the advertisers are merely doing their jobs anyway and they're sure paid that much into promoting to their target markets just as long as they make the sale.

Anyway, the point is, these people are trying to point at our weakness--which is trying to fill in some places in us that supposedly "we need their stuff" to be happy.

But let me tell that ironically, you don't need a lot of things to be happy. If you want to be happy, then I'm sure we can augment our happiness levels with our relationships and deeper connections with the people who matter in our lives. Significant others, family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and loved ones will make our stay here on our earthly lives more meaningful and memorable than purchasing that latest shoes. Though I admit that acquiring some possessions indeed may provide that quick-fix to be happy, however, time well spent and  investing experiences with loved ones or even with yourself--that may I say, is sure unforgettable and more fulfilling.
