Traditional opt-in forms have been around since the early days of the Internet. While they have proven effective for email marketers throughout the years, they are now being superseded by modern methods of acquiring user information.

Since everybody on the 'net these days has some kind of social network presence, marketers are relying on social network API's to gather user information through a quick and painless button. This has a number of benefits:
