Those are just a few of the reasons why a fast turnaround time is important. Aside from the fast turnaround time, transcriptionist should also note that quality and accuracy is equally important. Hence, if you are a transcriber and is beating a deadline and you feel that you could not handle the file. You have to inform your team manager so that arrangements can be made

Transcription is one of the most common outsourcing businesses nowadays.  Aside from fast and steady inflow of transcription files, transcription companies are paying transcriptionist with amounts that are surreal.  Why transcription services are very popular and in demand these days?  It is because it helps a lot of people to lessen the burden of transcribing their own files.  There are individuals who do not have the time to do transcriptions on their own.  Companies hire transcription service so that their paper works especially those legal issues that transpired during a meeting is well documented.

Hospitals at the same time are acquiring medical transcription services for all their transcription needs.  Patient’s medical history, doctor’s recorded assessments as well as the patient’s daily treatment record is being transcribed by professional medical transcriptionist.  Other institutions hire their own transcriptionist and keep them trained for better transcriptions every time and to keep them updated for any changes in the institution.

Important factors in a good Transcription:

·         Quality

·         Spelling

·         Confidentiality

·         Accuracy

·         Turnaround time

The turnaround time is the length of time the transcription result reaches the origin.  The turnaround time begins once the recorded data is uploaded into the services server.  It then is assigned to a transcriber who submits it back to the server once transcription is done.  A quality check is done and revisions are made.  Then it is sent back to the client in good quality and with high accuracy level.

Normally, a 24 hour turnaround time is the average length of time for a transcription to be received, transcribed, edited, and then returned to the original source of the file.  Turnaround and affordable transcription rates is important because owners need to get their transcribed files after a day or two.  Of course, a file can be returned in a lesser time if the client or owner is willing to pay for the extra amount.  There is a 12 hour turnaround time but of course, as mentioned, the payment is basically higher.  The turnaround time depends on the length of your recorded data.  As a general rule for most if not all transcription companies, a 12-24 hours turnaround time is good for a 5-8 hours of recorded time.  If it goes more than that, an additional day or 24 hours should be added to every 5 hours of recorded time.  This may not be true to all, so clients should ask about the turnaround time for every company especially if you have very large files.

Importance of Quick or Fast Turnaround time:

1.       A quick turnaround time allows the client or owner of the recorded file to double check the transcribed work if it suits his needs.

2.       A lot of the transcription clients are in a hurry to receive the transcribed files because most of them are beating a deadline.

3.       Quick turnaround time is important in legal documents because they need to be in file and reviewed before the next case or hearing occurs.

4.       For medical transcription, doctor’s need to have the patient’s charts, history, medical records, and treatment records within 12 hours.
