What really is happiness? Are you actually happy? Read this article and be enlightened with ways on how to be happy.

How do you become happy? Are there even rules to follow in order to be happy? We've all been in those situations where we wake up feeling hopeless, though some more than others. So how do we wake up feeling ecstatic and ready to take on the world?

Let's start by actually understanding what happiness is. Happiness is a mental state ranging from content to ecstasy. It is important to note from the definition that happiness is a range and can even be a state of content. This is important to understand because people try striving for that high state of happiness that is difficult to achieve when they can simply attain happiness through content. 

After learning what happiness is, find out if you are actually depressed. One way which you can determine if you are happy or not is by asking yourself: If I could live my life again, would I?

If you realize that you are actually depressed then follow these simple tips to become happy. You should start by throwing away bad memories. Bad memories hinder one's happiness constantly and cause more harm than they are worth. However, always treasure good memories and embrace them whenever you are feeling depressed. 

Another tip to increase your happiness is by reducing your expectations. People always expects more out of things and this raises their requirement for happiness. Instead, reduce your expectations and allow for things to easily bring you bliss. 

Last, embrace family and friends. They are huge factors for your mental well-being, providing comfort, support, and love. Many people take family and friends for granted when they should really take in consideration how they have enriched their lives. A life without family and friends is a life not worth living.
