What is HR Management?

There are two main aspects of HR management. First, it’s the act of recruiting, developing, applying retention techniques, and utilizing your human capital in order to meet the goals and objectives of both the individual and the organization. While these are the actions of HR management, there are specific functions that occur in order for these things to happen, such as workforce and succession planning. The second part of HR management is tracking those efforts, organizing employee information, recording performance management, such as appraisals and disciplinary actions, administering payroll and benefits, and many other record keeping activities. These are example of the many different functions required for effectively and efficiently managing your workforce.

What is HRIS?

HRIS" is software that’s used to organize your employee’s data and for human resources and department managers to perform record keeping functions more effectively. HR software allows an organization to streamline tasks that can be incredibly time consuming and take them away from engaging with employees or more strategic work.

HR software will allow you to store, manipulate, analyze, retrieve and distribute human resource information in a timely and efficient manner. Some of the benefits of having an HRIS include the ability to process information faster, reduce opportunities for errors, plan and develop programs that will help to improve the individuals and the organization. It can greatly improve employee communication, too.

In essence, implementing an HRIS system will greatly benefit the HR management of your organization by improving and streamlining processes, which frees up your department managers and human resource staff to accomplish the strategic goals of the organization.
