Domestic Flights in India

The world has seen some drastic changes in the recent past and things seem to be very drastic. Be it the uprising in Tunisia, or Egypt, or the floods in Queensland, or the airport explosion in Moscow, or terrorism activities in Canada and New York – the global atmosphere is shook with stress and turmoil.

 

And those who look to travel are only learning to play it safe in this upheaval. Those who used to swear by international travels and holidays are now considering exploring more of their own native country. Reasons for this could be varied – possibly because of wanting to be safe, or because of pressure from family members against the idea of letting their kith and kin traveling to distant places, or any other reason.

 

As a result of this, the domestic travel industry has seen a huge growth because of this. Particularly the airline industry! More and more number of businessmen are venturing into setting up their own airline carriers in the hope of grabbing a piece of the rising revenue that this industry is seeing. Therefore, over the past decade, India has seen a huge surge in the number of domestic flights. With their already large fleet size which is also seeing a constant addition, number of flight seats is rapidly increasing and people have more options to fly today 

For a country like India, which is still a developing nation, many people have just begun to explore the option of air travel. For many this was a distant dream at one point of time because of the high ticket prices. But now, with the rising standard of living and an increased level of disposable income, many Indians have, for the first time, started traveling through airlines.

This could also be because the air fare for a LCC is almost the same, or rather, slightly less than the rail fare for the same destination. Besides, airlines provide a faster and much more convenient commute.

 

With the rise in passenger traffic for airlines, there has been a substantial increase in the number of domestic flights in India. These low cost domestic carriers have revolutionized the way an average Indian travels.
