Mumsnet started some year ago as a parenting advice and
forum site where families could exchange advice, chat and generally discuss the
task of raising their offspring. Since
then the group has become quite politicised.
During the recent general election David Cameron spoke
directly to them, on behalf of parents everywhere; and they have been known to
lobby and petition for what they believe in.
Most recently Mumsnet campaigned to get a storyline in Eastenders
changed.
The Times newspaper has labelled the website: ‘The country’s
most popular meeting point for parents’, its hugely popular, and whether you
agree with their politics or not, it’s worth keeping in the loop with the news
on this website – it has clout, and it offers sound advice!
Emma’s Diary

yourself, your child and your relationship, whether your a Mum or Dad (though
the biological stuff tends to be directed at the female body); with some great
tips for diet and physical and mental wellbeing.
The site is run in association with the Royal College of
General Practitioners, so the health advice is sound. It also offers various free gifts and money
off vouchers for all parenting stages, and a helpful newsletter to coincide
with your gestation period.
Babynames
Babynames is another site that is aimed at parents-to-be
during the conception and preconception stage, the friendly forum will offer

You can also discuss your choice on the forum, but be careful the
comments that you get may not be always gentle, but are always honest.
