For over 40 years the National Football League has been America’s sports league. Each year from late August to early February, millions of sports junkies from across the globe sit at home Sunday’s watching their favorite teams battle it out at the football stadium. However, it’s been two weeks since the Super Bowl championship game and it’s literally felt like the longest two weeks of life. For the average person who doesn’t watch football, here is why the NFL is the best league in North American team sports.

1.      The NFL Draft – Each year hundreds of players from the college football ranks are entered into the first year player draft of the NFL. For NFL fans, the draft is the second biggest event aside from the start of the regular season. Essentially, the draft provides hope for all 32 teams, but especially the top five teams in the draft.

Usually, the top five picks of the draft are where the best players of the draft land. These players, are chosen by the worst teams of the prior year, and provide their fan bases with a glimmer of opportunity.

2.      Preseason – Similar to the NFL Draft, the preseason is an opportunity for all 30 teams to gage their fan bases by playing exhibition games. These games are usually cheaper than regular season games, and allow fans to watch their favorite players and possible unknown players emerge as mainstays for the regular season roster.

3.      Regular Season – The regular season can best be described as that girl you have an on again off again relationship with. On the one hand, it’s fantastic to see her again and there is all this hope that things will turn out great. Then when the regular season ends, and your team has failed to make the playoffs, you remember why you parted ways with the girl in the first place.
