Indore, the largest metropolitan city of Madhya Pradesh is growing rapidly. Indore news is often abuzz with the city’s need for increasing mobility and high travel demand.

Indore is one the important centres of trade and commerce in the state.

With the beginning of the 21st century, the ever-increasing intensity of traffic, congestion, delays, accidents and other transportation problems in the city compelled the municipal authorities to plan a way out of these traffic problems. Indore news constantly highlighted the plight of the common man, which forced the administration to take action. After months of discussions and planning, Indore City Transport Services Limited (ICTSL) was incorporated on December 1, 2005. Indore Municipal Corporation aimed at operating and managing the public transport system of Indore with the new transport services.

According to official data, Indore Municipal Corporation and Indore Development Authority invested an authorised capital of Rs 2,500,000 jointly. ICTSL runs through 277 kilometres of road network in the city and nearby areas. The city transport system currently functions as a public-private partnership. Six private partners along with the city administration manage the transport system.

As often underlined in Indore Hindi news the cost of living in the city should be such that the common man does not feel life is a burden for him. ICTSL adheres to the ideology as it offers pass system for regular travellers. The monthly pass that could be earlier made for Rs 300 is now available for Rs 350.

Indore news, especially Indore Hindi news has showered high praises for the new transport system in the city that has been working smoothly for the more than five years now. ICTSL has been a path-breaking project for Indore Municipal Corporation. The city’s bus service has even received accolades from outside the state. In 2008-09 when the infamous blueline buses of Delhi caused numerous deaths in the Indian capital city, noted writer wrote in one of his blogs that Indore’s bus service can provide some guidance for Delhi’s transport problems.
