Moose belongs to animal kingdom, class mammalian and order Artiodactyls. They belong to the deer family and it is the largest extant. They are found in mixed deciduous forest. The most favoured and popular form of hunting is the big game one.
For those who live in northern America are left with very
few options as the species that are basically used for big game hunting are
becoming extinct because of tremendous poaching. So, the one and only option
left with them is the moose hunting.
They are normally hunted and used as bait got bigger animals.
The first thing you should keep in mind before hunting a
moose is the type of animal it is. They are herbivores and commonly found in
the forests of northern America.
Their diet changes rather their food preference changes with the changing
climatic conditions. Their diet includes aquatic as well as land plants. The
male moose is also known as bull, in the time of summer come outside of their
niche to find out their mates, so if you are looking for a male moose to hunt
then the best time is the summer season.
As the moose is a large animal weighing around 1800 pounds, it’s
really hard to bag them, so the basic requirement is to carry good weapons and
equipments. A calibre rifle is the best to bag them down. The head of a moose
is very precious so a hunter never misses it and aims at the base of its neck. One
of the main points one need to take into consideration before the moose hunting is to know its anatomy
then it would be easier.
Binoculars are the must haves for a hunter while hunting,
the other weapons that should be taken along are, knife, moose call etc.. While
hunting in their mating seasons the most important and helpful equipment is a
moose calling device. Binoculars are used for spotting them, once they are
spotted they can be approached well, and a knife is a standard tool for hunting
all the animals. As they are very large and its quite difficult to carry them,
in this case saw is taken along to dismember their body.
The calibre rifle that are used should be large ,sometimes
the small rifles are not good as the size of the moose is very large and it
becomes difficult to manage them.
