Campsites in Yorkshire put visitors right next to the coast – and a stone’s throw away from some of the liveliest seaside towns in the country.

Adventure, action, relaxation, nature, history – it’s all here on the Yorkshire coast. There are some wonderful caravans and camping sites scattered up the beaches towards Scarborough, including the three we’ve chosen to highlight in our mini guide.

Blue Dolphin, which is the closest to the resort town of Scarborough, is an all action Park with plenty going on. There’s a pool complex, a SportsDrome (that would be an indoor sporting facility, to you and me) and a full set of amenities. Clifftop situation makes this one of the most sought after campsites in Yorkshire.

Primrose Valley is another action fest, this time situated a little further down the coast away from Scarborough itself, out towards Filey. Primrose Valley can’t trump the Blue Dolphin for its views, but it has the edge on activities – adding a boating lake, a funfair, a climbing wall and a coarse fishing lake to the roster of guest entertainments. Caravan and camping sites don’t get much more fun packed than this – and that’s before you’ve even gone off visiting anywhere!

If you prefer a slightly more relaxed environment, you’ll be glad to know that the easygoing life is just as well represented in the campsites in Yorkshire. We’d recommend heading to Reighton Sands, a family oriented site that makes the most of another dazzling clifftop location. Perfect for a classic days at the beach, nights round the barbecue type of a holiday.

All the caravan and camping sites in Yorkshire have their own charms and their own things to recommend them, of course. And the area around Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington is full of opportunities for family entertainment. Don’t miss the Jorvik Viking Centre and the Flamingoland Theme Park.
