Now you can protect yourself against possible bear attacks, with safe, humane bear pepper mace. Learn about how pepper spray products can give you ample self defense against mauling bears and other aggressive wildlife while hunting or camping out in mother nature.

Any time you are planning a wilderness adventure especially in areas known to be bear country it is wise to take a canister of bear mace along with you. Bear mace, also known as bear pepper spray, bear spray, bear deterrents and animal repellents. All are pretty much the same thing. Bear mace is an animal deterrent spray used to stop an attacking bear or some other large predatory animal that is threatening your life.

When it comes to self protection against bears, an investigation covering a 20 year period, researchers found that bear spray was actually better in deterring a charging bear than firing a gun. The research revealed that spray actually caused bears to stop in their tracks and leave the area in over 92% of occurrences, while the use of guns only worked 67% of the time. If you don't manage to stop the aggressive bear on the first shot, the wounded bear will then become even dangerous. However, with the use of bear spray you don't have to be as accurate.

Bear pepper spray is made from the naturally occurring, nontoxic chemical called Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) found in hot pepper plants. OC is the active ingredient in the hot peppers. This specialized animal repeller works in a way that resembles the operation of pepper sprays designed to be used on humans. However, common pepper sprays are NOT recommended for repelling bears, because they won't get the job done. Pepper spray for bears that is EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved will stop an attacking bear long enough for you to get safely away.

Bear repellent spray works by causing temporary blindness in the animal and a burning sensation in it's nasal passages. The beast will quickly retreat as it becomes confused, disoriented and unable to smell you. Bear mace provides a non-lethal way to stop the grizzly encounter and discourage any future interest. The effects wear off after about half an hour with no permanent damage. By that time either you or the bear will long gone.

In the event of encountering an aggressive grizzly, bear spray is the only proven deterrent. You should always take a canister for everyone whenever you venture out into the wilderness where bears and other ferocious carnivores are known to be. Keep it clipped to your belt or backpack and be prepared to use it if you ever have a bear encounter.
