Kashmir Valley is seeing a downturn in the number of
tourists visiting the state. Post the unrest which erupted in the Valley after
June 11 over the death of teenager Tufail Mattoo, number of tourists visiting
the Valley has drastically fallen. Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister – Jammu &
Kashmir, said that J&K has seen a decline in tourism by 50 percent in the
first quarter of 2011, as compared to the same period last year.
More than four months of unrest was witnessed by the state
in 2010 which saw violent clashes between security forces and civilians. Many
lost their lives in these disputes. As a result tourism was greatly affected.
In order to push traffic for J&K, many airlines even
offered discounted airfares. Many travel portals even offered additional special
discount vouchers and promotion codes to ensure that customers
get cheapest flights. This was one reason that the aviation industry
could sustain passenger traffic for many destinations.
To counter attack the dwindling figures, many new innovative
strategies were adopted, like discount coupons, cheapest airfares, and cheapest
flights. The low cost airlines were the biggest savior for the aviation
industry with their low priced tickets.
With the situation seeming to get better in the Valley,
combined with discounted airfares, it is only a matter of time before tourism again
picks up in J&K. Now is the time to make the most of the situation and book
cheapest flights to J&K and other cities and have a great vacation. Book
your tickets today!
