Fishing Crankbaits For Bass

After a long cold winter, if you are like us, you probably couldn’t have waited to get back to the ocean to fish for bass. Each year millions of people take to the waterway, in hopes of using the right bait to attract a ton of bass. Over the years we have found that the crankbait is the best to use as it is the bass’s equivalent of a juicy steak, can’t help but be attracted to it. For all you new fishing enthusiasts, making this year the year you take on a new hobby, here is a guide on how to use a crankbait when fishing for bass.

In essence, a crankbait is a manufactured imitation of a minnow lure. The minnow lure, as you will be informed at the deep sea fishing lodge you travel to prior to fishing for bass, is the main live bait to catch the bass. Crankbait are basically, the brand name bait for bass, you can buy at your local fishing shop. Each shop carries a plethora of crankbait, differing in colour, shape, and oddly enough lips or no lips.

Most of the questions we receive when it comes to explaining crankbait is what are the correct types of body shapes you should be using. The answer is, it totally depends on which type of bass you are aiming to catch. Our preferred crankbaits are the slimmer, flat side floating crankbait, as they can generally be used to catch a number of different bass.

Essentially, whether you are using slim flat side floating crankbait in the beginning of the season or near the end, when the water gets colder, you can’t really go wrong. For the early parts of the season, the red and brown crankbait are the ones we suggest using, as they mimic fleeing lures. Conversely, the grey and black crankbait are good to use in the latter part of the season, as they are good for catch deep sea bass.
