Spring is here and it is once again time to open up the garage and get
out your fishing gear and boat. For new deep sea fishing enthusiasts wondering
how to prepare for their first fishing trip, here are some keys to success.
Waterproof All Your Gear And Clothes –
Look we realize you will get wet
while flicking your fishing line into the water. However, that doesn’t mean all
of your equipment should be getting wet. Rather instead, we suggest you wear a
waterproof jacket, warm clothes, and waterproof your bait container. The last
thing you want is wear and tear on your gear before you get started!
Replace Your Line – One of the biggest mistakes rookie fishing
enthusiasts make, is they repeatedly use the same line when fishing. As you
will see in almost any fishing show, is the expert replace their line after
they catch a fish. Essentially, each fish should be looked at as a fresh start,
and what better way to catch a fresh fish then with a new line and bait. What’s
more, fly fishing lines tend to receive a ton of wear and tear during the
course of a season, so having an extra line can usually come in handy.
Check Your Reels – The first rule of becoming a successful fly
fisherman is to check all of your equipment. Each year thousands of people take
to the waterways in hopes of perfecting their skills at fly fishing. However,
of those thousands of people, only a handful are ever able to catch more than
one fish.
The main reason for this conundrum is that most people forget to take
their equipment, especially their reels in for servicing before their trips.
One of the things we enjoy doing when it comes to fly fishing, is take our
equipment to a fishing store, to get it cleaned, and tuned up. This way, we are
always prepared when we go on our fishing trips.
