Format of curriculum vitae is equally important as the content of it. There is no single standard format or method for writing a CV. It may vary according to many facts such as, your country’s standard, the nature of the job you are applying, the standards of the company you are applying, your personal preferences etc. What ever the format is, it is very important to present the CV in a well summarized eye catching way so that it could help you to stand out from the rest of the crowd in a situation where the candidates are short listed.

In some companies they have specially designed formats of CVs for their applicants, So that they could summarize the information from candidates in a standardized format. There are many aspects that you have to pay attention on if you are designing the CV of your own. Length of the CV is an important feature of CV’s format. Too lengthy or too short CVs would make negative impact on you during the selection procedure. One of the common fatal errors that applicants tend to do is getting some other person’s CV format copied or just getting some formats downloaded from online resources and filling it with their details. Copying another person’s CV format does not help you to design the ideal CV that suits your job position. For an instance, the CV format for an application of a teacher might entirely differ from the CV format of an accounts clerk. Therefore, you should not follow the same format of another CV, but you can get some idea about the facts that you should include in yours by referring those. You will have to do some research of designing CV and have proper knowledge relating to your field of career.

Although you design a well written and effective CV you cannot guarantee that it can be sent to all the jobs you are applying for. As you might have to change the format according to the company’s requirements you apply for. For an instance, some companies ask to limit the CV to only two pages. Further it is also important to update your CV and it’s format at least every couple of months.
