You need to have a healthier body in order to get healed rapidly. People with high blood pressure and diabetes can also go though this surgery provided the illness is under control at that time.

What is Knee Replacement?

The knee replacement is done in both ways – total replacement or partial replacement. The surgery is done in such a way that the metal or plastic components are placed instead of damaged joints. The duration of the operation will depend upon the type of surgery required. The healthcare experts will take utmost care that the entire procedure is done in a most efficient manner. Only a highly skilled surgeon can perform this as it is very technical.

The Recovery Process

After the Knee Replacement surgery is performed the patient needs to stay in the hospital for next 3-5 days, depending upon the patient’s health. The rehabilitation program is started immediately after the operation. The patient would be assisted by physical therapist who will help him on the mobility part where as occupational therapist will help in preparing for day to day activities like washing, dressing etc.

The recovery rate of different person is different that depends upon factors like body weight, physical strength, mental strength, tolerance level etc. If the doctor is not satisfied with the patients health even after 4-5 days he might allow the patient to go home but with an arrangement of a therapist who will help the patient in further recovery process in home itself.
