Modern eco friendly cleaning products are capable of delivering the same clean for the same price – without leaving the same damage behind.
Eco friendly cleaning products
are becoming widely available as alternative to the more corrosive commercial
cleaners most businesses have been used to using. With modern technology paving
the way for a new standard of cleanliness, plenty of companies are starting to
make the shift. But how well do the modern eco friendly versions match up
against their tried and tested, but less environmentally sound,
counterparts?
Overall,
there’s little to no evident difference between the cleaning quality of an
older style caustic cleaner and a modern eco friendly equivalent. The
composition of modern eco friendly
cleaning products has been carefully put together to ensure that the
finished result of a room or surface cleaned by them is the same as it always
was: scientists have simply substituted the older, harsher ingredients for more
forgiving ones.
As
a case in point, let’s look at a five litre tub of multi surface cleaner. The
eco friendly version of this product has been developed with a low pH rating
and is free from phosphates, enzymes and solvents. The cleaning liquid is
quickly biodegradable to EU standards, ensuring that no harmful residues are
able to make their way out into the environment.
Cleaning
wise, the multi surface cleaner, like all eco
friendly cleaning products, makes a very good account of itself. The
product delivers a controlled amount of foam and is suitable either for daily
cleaning, or for regular (multiple times during one day) cleaning. Used as part
of a regular clean routine, the product delivers a lasting shine, a fresh aroma
and lacks smearing.
Because
of the lack of caustics, the product is suitable for varying degrees of
dilution. In a 1:50 part mixture with water, it is suitable for light cleaning;
in 1:30 ratios
it provides
excellent general cleaning; and in even higher concentrations it can be used
for metals or for heavy duty cleaning.
Now
that eco friendly cleaning products
have reached a stage where they work like the older style products; they smell
like the older style products; and they’re better for both user and environment
than the older style products; it looks as though the industrial cleaning
balance will start to shift in their favour. The price of modern ecologically
sound cleaning products for commercial use has come down to appropriate
figures, too – comparable quality and quantity products that are not from
specific eco friendly ranges come in at the same kinds of prices and sometimes
more.
The
environment has become a bigger focus for British industry than ever before.
Government targets as well as popular pressure have raised the stakes for
companies to find ways to import some environmental sustainability into their
cleaning routines. The better availability of genuinely useful eco friendly cleaning products is
making this step a lot easier to take.
As
technology continues to develop and the needs of the environment become ever
more apparent, the effectiveness and cheapness of environmentally friendly
cleaning products is likely to continue improving. Who knows how long it will
be before all cleaning products are eco friendly?
