There are a number of gas training courses available within the UK. ACS gas training is suitable for people who work within installation, servicing, commission or breakdown and repair across a variety of flue and appliance types. It is also available for those who want to learn and get into the trade. It is also ideal for those who need a refresher course or have to update themselves with current gas safety procedures.

* gas training solutions are provided through the Managed Learning Programs

* there is supervised access to work placements on site

* it assists with portfolio building through site experience

* trainers and assessors have had a lot of experience within this sector

Gas Training Courses

There are a number of gas training courses available, including:

* CCN1 - Domestic Natural Gas Safety

* CEN1 - Central Heating Boilers

* CKR1 - Domestic Gas Cookers

* HTR1 - Gas Fires and Wall Heaters

* MET1 - Domestic Gas Meters

* WAT1 - Instantaneous Water Heaters

* CPA1 - Combustion Performance Analysis

* MLP - Managed Learning Program

* MLP (2) - Part Managed Learning Program

Assessment Format

The ACS assessment looks at two areas in particular. These are created through national criteria, which are governed by ACS. Practical tasks are used to look at performance, but this also includes written parts.

In order to pass, a score of 100% is required. However, this doesn't have to be made at the first try: candidates can be given further tries and questions to ascertain if any further training is required.

Management Learning Program (MLP)

It is also possible at a gas-training center to carry out a Management Learning Program (MLP). What this course involves is training on site with professional gas operatives. This gives all candidates the experience needed in order to go on and get their Domestic ACS qualifications. Such training is ideal for people who already have experience working in similar fields, for example plumbing, but are now interested in entering the gas industry. It is also perfect for businesses that want to train up employees who aren't currently gas operatives.

Re-Assessments

Re-assessment should be done every five years. It allows for the testing of important safety skills and brings up any new forms of legislation that may have been released within that time period. This means that the written part of the assessment is minimal and more focus is placed on a safety inspection as opposed to looking into servicing, installation and commissioning.

Gas training courses can be found throughout the UK. ACS gas training is ideal for both those who want to enter the gas industry and those who are already part of it.
