Act of stealing a person’s property without his or her approval is known as theft. It is one of the fastest growing crimes. Theft is of many types. Some of the common types of theft cases have been mentioned below in this article.
As explained above, act of stealing a person’s property without his or her approval is known as theft. In other words, it is an act that involves an unauthorized access to another's property. The person who carries out this act is known as a thief. Theft rate is growing day by day thus, capturing attention of police. Everyday, a number of individuals are caught engaged in some kind of theft. Theft cases are of different types. Some of the major ones include:  

Mugging

Mugging is a type of street robbery that is majorly seen in larger towns. Common targets of mugging include tourists, women and children. By taking only a few simple measures, you can save yourself from being a target of it. Everyday, a number of cases are reported by the police involving this type of crime.  

Larceny

Taking and carrying away of personal property of a person illegally with the purpose of depriving the holder of its possession is termed as larceny. It is an unlawful attainment of the personal property of a person by another. It is a crime against possession.

Robbery

Confiscating a person’s property with aggression or pressure is termed as robbery. Armed robbery, aggravated robbery and highway robbery are three major types of robbery.

Burglary

It is defined as the act of illicitly entering into a building in order to commit an offence. This type of theft is also known as breaking, entering and housebreaking.

Embezzlement

It is defined as the act of deceitfully secreting assets by one or more individuals to whom the assets have been handed over.

These are five major types of theft cases reported by police. Individuals who are caught in such cases require a powerful representation in the court of law.
