The choice of colour for your home is a very personal one, as is the colour you choose for your clothes. Most people have a favourite colour, or range of colours, and their choice of decor reflects this. Many people now are going for neutral colours on their walls, and dressing up the rest of their homes with cheap rugs which can add a splash of their favourite colour to the decor. The style of flooring is wood or laminate, which again is in a neutral shade, so that to brighten everything up a rug is the perfect accessory.

If you choose cheap rugs in red, there is always a great choice. Red adds warmth and vitality to a room and can really bring an otherwise drab room alive with its vibrancy. Plain red rugs with a deep pile give  texture as well as colour and add to the all round interest. Patterned red rugs will the basic colour teamed with black and white, or even a range of colours, will make your cheap rugs a focal point in the room, especially if teamed with neutral shades for soft furnishings and walls. If red is your favourite, chosen colour and you have a good eye for matching patterns, then you can take the bold approach and match your rugs with your walls and furnishings. This look is extremely striking but it is not for everyone and take care that you do not clash too much with your other colours, as the result can be overpowering.

Blue is a more relaxing colour and is easier to match up as the different shades in your cheap rugs will tone together more easily than the more audacious shades of red. From pastel shades of blue which shade into grey, to the deeper shades of blue, this is a lovely colour for your rugs which can be easily matched up. Try wall coverings in palest grey, with a pastel sofa and rugs to match. The chic effect of blue is hard to beat. Or look at one of the subtly patterned rugs available, with a gentle swirl of colour adding interest to your blue background.

If your favourite colour is green or brown, these shades are easier to match up. Earth tones go well together and your cheap rugs in either of those shades will give a wonderful warm ambience. Patterned rugs in green or brown give a more subtle approach than the more vivid reds. Brown rugs can be used to tone down the brightness of red, or to match up with it in a pattern.

Purples and pinks are popular colours, and though a whole room decorated in these shades can be a bit much, cheap rugs can be used to add a dash of your favourite hue. If the rest of the room is in a different colour, rugs can be used for that little bit of brightness to make you feel more at home.
