TV fans in Gloucester may benefit from free music event

Individuals with TV aerials in Gloucester, including those who have made use of aerial repairs in Gloucester, may benefit from a celebration that is set to take place next month.

According to a report on Creative Boom, those in charge of Gloucester Guildhall have decided to host a free music event. After the centre was short-listed in NME's search for Britain’s Best Small Venue, they decided to celebrate by making their annual Underground Festival free.

Located in the city centre, Gloucester Guildhall is an entertainment venue and events space and it hosts live music, comedy, film, talks and exhibitions. In addition, it has a number of rooms available for hire for functions and meetings.

Those behind the move to make the festival free hope it will help bring the best unsigned and emerging bands to the area. Meanwhile, anyone who is set to pay for TV aerials in Gloucester, or aerial repairs in Gloucester, and who was planning to attend the event may be able to use the cash they save to help fund the work.

Commenting on the decision to allow entry to revellers at no cost, organiser Joe Schiavon said: "The NME nomination showed us that people in Gloucester obviously care about the venue, as well as music as a whole, so we thought we'd give them an opportunity to experience as many exciting breakthrough artists over the course of a weekend as possible."

He added: "Obviously being nominated for such a huge award was a massive achievement for us and we are really indebted to everyone who voted. This seemed like the ideal way to give something back and say thank you for all the support we’ve received."

The musical celebration is set to take place in the autumn over two days, from September 24th to 25th and those planning to head to the event can visit the Guildhall's website to check out the line-up.
