Sensors may use infrared to detect if there is a change in the temperature. This type of alarm system is connected to a monitoring company 24-7 (24 hrs a day, 7 days a week). When there is breach a guard will as previously agreed between you and the alarm monitoring  company, will either contact you or the proper authorities like the police, fire department or the emergency hospital.
