Researchers from the Convergence
Consulting Group have predicted that by the end of 2011, more than 2 million
households in the U.S.
will turn their backs to cable TV and embrace streaming TV. In fact, over the
last few years, streaming television has come to revolutionize the way people
choose to be entertained. However, these days, the integration of stream live TV technology with
hand-held devices like Smartphones and tablets has taken the world of
entertainment by storm.
Many technology pundits had seen
this development coming. According to them, twin developments in the
telecommunications sector have made possible this convergence. Firstly, live
streaming broadcast equipment like a Tricaster 6 camera,
the satellite modem, a video encoder, and VOIP phone is no longer prohibitively
expensive. Secondly, hand-held communication devices have soared in popularity
and scope. Add to these reasons, the advances in communication technology
resulting in improved and less costly bandwidths available to the consumers and
it is not hard to comprehend why television service providers are eyeing the
hand-held devices market. The demand for TV that can be viewed from anywhere
and also on the go, of course, had always been there.
In recent times, there has been a
flurry of cable TV providers releasing apps that will let their subscriber's stream live
TV directly to their mobile devices. Apple tablet users, Android
aficionados, and in general, boys who love their toys are overjoyed at the
news; they can now enjoy live broadcasting of their favorite baseball game or a
catch up on what’s taking place in the NBA League while waiting for the traffic
lights to turn green.
There are a number of ways in
which this seamless convergence of technologies can take place: via the cable
box which let viewers stream live
TV anywhere in their house or via Wi-Fi or the mobile network allowing them
to watch live streaming TV while on the move. Both methods of transmission have
their takers and the ease-of-use and convenience afforded by either have got
the nod of approval from TV viewers around the globe.
Couch potatoes now have more
reasons to rejoice. With the ability to stream
live TV, they can now leave their couches and yet not be forced to give up
on their daily dose of soaps, sports, and movies.
