Is the maid lying? Is she just after his money? Was she really sexually assaulted by Dominique Strauss Kahn? Or was whatever happened in that Hotel room consensual? Those are just some of the many questions in what has become to be know as the "Strauss-Kahn affair."
Natissafatou Daillo, the hotel maid has, by her own admission, lied about several elements in her account of her history to prosecutors. Thus, casting some doubtful shadows over her credibility regarding her relation with Mr. Strauss Kahn. Like the boy in the fairy tale who repeatedly cried: "Wolf! Wolf! when there was, in fact, no wolf, Ms. Diallo runs the risk of not been believed. A risk that could sabotage her attempt to proceed.
Strauss-Kahn's attorneys don't dispute the physical evidence. DNA tests have confirmed the semen of DSK was on N.D.'s dress. They maintain that whatever happened in suite 2806 of the Sofitel Hotel on May 14, 2011, was "consensual."
If we accept that for the moment, why then did Strauss-Kahn phone his wife before leaving the Hotel for lunch with his daughter saying "We have a serious problem here in New York?" What "serious problem" could there possibly be with a consensual sexual encounter? And why did he not exlain it? Why did he say he'd call late? What was the rush? "Too busy" to detail a "serious problem?"
Then we have the questions regarding the credibility of Ms. Diallo. She admitted to lying to prosecutors about being gang-raped in her native Guinea. Saying because that was the story she gave to gain asylum in America, she wanted to be consistent. Ms. Diallo was quick to add that she was raped in Guinea. But under other circumstances.
Her credibility has been further weakened by the knowledge that her jailed boyfriend used her bank account to launder drug money. Ms. Diallo said this was done without her knowledge.
Also damaging was her telephone conversation with the boyfriend, in which she alluded to Strauss-Kahn's wealth.
For the record, although DSK has always earned a high profile salary, he is not wealthy. The wealth comes from his wife. Billionairess Anne Sinclair. She's the economic muscle behind DSK. She's the one who buys the luxurious apartments, cars and $400 shoes. It's her i heritance that totally finances the Strauss-Kahn "brand." As DSK has himself confirmed.
Like the Kennedy assassination, the Oklahoma Federal Building Bombing, and 9/11, there are no shortage of conspiracy theories swirling around the thick fog of "Affaire DSK." A politically motivated "sting operation?" Would not a seasoned politican, especially one preparing to announce his candidacy for the French presidency, have his "radar" turned on?
And even if it were off, you'd think his "gut feeling" would scream "set-up!" Would you not?
Then there's the report that the news of the affair was allegedly tweeted by a French journalist BEFORE it alledgedly occured. If true, curious. To say the least.
However there has been one fact buried in the debris of detail signifigant and trival in the DSK affair. A fact that has enormous consequences. Not just for DSK, Anne Sinclair and Nafissatou Diallo. But for the economy of the World. Strauss-Kahn's missing cell-phone. The one he called the Hotel three times from the airport for. The one he had his Step-Daughter crawling on a restaurant floor to trying find.
That phone, containing sensitive, and need we say, super secret financial information, has never been found. Who do you think could profit from it the most? What do you think about this whole affair? Express your opinion here!
