There is joy in "Strauss Kahn-ville" at the moment. Sadly, that euphoria is not shared by women have been sexually assualted.
Dominique Strauss Kahn is walking the streets again. He's a free man. But not an exonerated man. He wasn't found "not guilty" of the serious charges against him....he simply didn't have to FACE those charges. Due to New York City District Attorney Cyrus Vance jr's decision to replace the duty of a jury, with his opinion. In a bid to assure his re-election? The cynical would say: "absolutlely!"

Whatever the reason(s) it's clear that Women everywhere are disgusted by yet another demonstration of Men deciding the fate of Women. And it also confirms the double standard  equating the veracity of a Woman's abuse claims with her background. Clearly Mr; Vance is saying to Women : "Don't come forward in this city with a sexual assault claim unless your background is pristine."

That double standard also includes the way society, need I say Male dominated society, is prejudiced in favor of the Male version of events. And it further demonstrates "the power of the purse." We're all aware of the obscene amount of money possessed by Strauss Kahn's Wife, Anne Sinclair.

Yes, doing anything and everything to "stand by her man" is something that any loving Wife would do. But in Anne Sinclair's case, she had/has the financial muscle to ensure that DSK got the best lawyers that money could rent. Doesn't really dovetail well with "all equal under the law" does it?

Imagine for a moment that the same charge, in the same situation was levelled against a porter at Ms. Diallo's hotel. Do you think those charges would have been dropped?

I'm sure they have an answer you know all too well in Natissifatou Daillo's neighbourhood. And doubtless they will be repeating the mantra of the oppressed minorites of color - "White is right."

And so, the sexual soap opera that has distracted the World's attention for these past months would seem to be over. But in any situation where sex, money, political futures, massive egos and the law are concerned, best not to write "the end" just yet.

What will become of the principal player in our riveting drama? Certainly "The Great Seducer" will return to the land of his previous conquests. Where he will no doubt return to political life. Not as a disgraced sex maniac, but as a conquering hero. Proudly but ever so discreetly, playing his "I told you so" card.

Will this be enough to get him elected president? Stay tuned. But keep in mind before his..ahem..."situation" with Ms. Diallo, DSK was 20% ahead of President Nicolas Sarkozy in the popularity polls. And while popularity doesn't necessarily translate into electability, it doesn't translate into nothing either.

The legal challanges facing DSK in France will be blasted into oblivion in the same manner As the New York accusations. More of those expensive lawyers. And whatever political favors may need to be called in. Keep in mind, that Straus Kahn/Sinclair travel in the Highest levels of not only French, but International society.

They socialize regularly with people you've only read about in "Who's Who." Captains of Industry. Owners of Television and Newspaper chains. They have the two things that make them practically bulletproof, legal-wise. Deep pockets and connections.

So, as our cousins down under would say "no worries" for Mr. DSK. No, I have'nt forgotten Ms. Diallo's civil suit against him. But experts say (and you've got to trust experts, right?) that could take two years. Plus, regardless of whether or not he's the President of France by then, as a French citizen, DSK can simply decline to attend.
