An industrial photographer focuses their work on taking pictures for industry. Pictures will tend to be of industrial machinery, buildings, factories, workplaces, people, offices and plants. Many industrial companies require the services of an industrial photographer from time to time. This could be for internal purposes such as creating training brochures and pictures of building layouts etc. or for external purposes to use in adverting literature or for public relations. Companies may have an in house industrial photographer or they may use an industrial photographer on a contract basis as and when they are needed.

Industrial photographer can capture iconic moments in industry, capturing history in the making to see work methods and machinery in action which can then be looked back at in years to come. Taking photos of industry may not seem the most exciting type of photography but without such photographs being taken we would not have records of some great moments throughout history.

The pictures can show step by step guides on how to use particular tools, machinery, products or safety procedures. These can particularly useful for when you have new members of staff to ensure thy can see exactly how things should be done and that they have a photographic reference to hand if they need it for clarity.

They will say what areas of photography they specialise in and should be happy to show you examples of previous work they have carried out. An industrial photographer can vary in price and may charge per the hour or charge a daily rate. Ensure they are clear on exactly what you want them to capture on the photographs to make sure the shoot is a success.
