Some of us are very intent on saving the planet. Others are very intent on saving money. Luckily, one can very easily inform the other, and whether you wish to save energy, money or indeed both, a simple change in how your heat and light your home could make a major difference.

Some changes would involve a very large investment, but the amount you spend will often have a direct correlation to how much you save, in both energy and indeed in money. For example, solar panels may be very costly, but for many households, the need to spend money on electricity will instantly evaporate, and indeed many people may even be able to make money from the energy they generate.

Of course, not everyone will have the money or inclination for such a major change. For others, it will be far more beneficial to start small. Even something as small as adding garden solar lights could instantly bring down your energy bills. Especially as the longer, darker nights start descending upon us, solar garden lighting could make your home a safer place (removing the need for you to set a timer or remember to switch the lights on before you head out), whilst giving you light all night long if you so wish, without it costing you a penny.

Of course, touches such as insulation and garden solar lights can create a good deal of extra cash flow over time, offering you the ability to save up for the bigger extras such as solar panelling or light tunnels to optimise the sunlight in your home.

So whether you wish to start small with very cheap but attractive solar garden lighting or dive right in with the more expensive commodities, there are some very simple steps to help you save the environment and your wallet at the very same time.
