POVA stands for Protection of Vulnerable Adults. If you work in the care industry.
POVA stands for Protection of Vulnerable Adults. If you work in the care industry then your career will benefit from POVA training. There are many kinds of vulnerable adults all of whom need to be dealt with in different ways so POVA training and qualifications are quite varied. The largest group of vulnerable adults are the elderly, so a lot of POVA training focuses on the elderly. However, you can also find POVA training to help you with the care of the mentally ill, the disabled, adults with learning difficulties and adults who have addiction issues.

Who Needs POVA Training?

Anyone who cares for or has contact with vulnerable adults should consider POVA training. Even if you are only working as an advisor to these vulnerable adults POVA training could benefit to you. It will help you to understand those adults better and teach you how to keep them safe, spot the early signs of problems and cope with the stress involved in working with vulnerable adults. This means that care workers, nurses, doctors, CAB staff and prison staff should all consider completing POVA training. If you volunteer to work in your local homeless shelter, old people's home or similar charity you could also benefit from POVA training.

Not every employer requires you to complete POVA training, but there is no doubt that when you are applying for a care job you will have a significant advantage over other candidates if you are POVA qualified.

Finding the Right POVA Training for You

Most POVA courses are relatively short and can be done using distance learning 24 hours a day. This means that all you need to complete a course is a bit of spare time, an internet connection and the money to pay for the course. Because the courses are short and the course providers have low overheads courses cost very little money starting from £30.

Make sure that any POVA training you sign up for gives you a qualification at the end of it and make sure it is a certified and recognised course.
