Interview is the process in which two parties are involved. One is the Interviewer (person who takes the interview) and the other is the Interviewee (person who gives an interview). One must always remember that 7% of your impact comes from words you say, 38% from how you say (your tonal quality) and 55% from what your body is doing while you are speaking.

Do’s of an Interview

  • Know the exact time and location of your  interview, know how long it takes to get there.
  • Arrive early, 10 minutes prior to the  interview start time.
  • Treat other people you encounter with  courtesy and respect. Their opinions for you might be solicited during hiring  decisions.
  • Make a firm handshake, make eye contact  and have a friendly expression when you are greeted by your interviewer.
  • Listen to be sure you understand what is  your interviewer’s name and correct the pronunciations.
  • Adopt a correct posture while sitting.  Avoid fidgeting with things or slouching.
  • Be honest and be yourself- your best  professional self. Dishonesty gets discovered and leads to lose of  a genuine job opportunity.
  • Treat the interview seriously and as  though you are truly interested in the employer and the opportunity presented.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude. The  interviewer is evaluating you as a potential co- worker. Behave like someone  you would want to work with.
  • When the interview concludes, offer a  firm handshake ansd make eye contact. Depart gracefully.
  • Write a thank you letter to your  interviewer promptly.

Dont’s  of an Interview

  • Do not make excuses. Take responsibility  of your decisions and your actions.
  • Do not make negative commands about your  previous employers.
  • Do not treat the interview casually, as  if you are just shopping around. This is an insult to the interviewer and the organisation.
  • Do not give the impression that you are  only interested in the salary, do not ask about salary and benefit issues until  the subject is brought up by the interviewer.
  • Do not act as though you would take up  any job or are desperate for employment.
  • Do not be unprepared for typical  interview but being unprepared looks foolish.
  • Do not allow your cell phone to sound  during the interview. Do not take a call or look at the text message.

In  this way, Interview acts as a deciding factor. It can either make things work  or destroy things for the interviewee.
