There are many printers in the market today and they are manufactured b y different companies. Each company will try and encourage you to use the replacement ink cartridge that they sell as it is deemed to be better for the printer. IT will give more copies per cartridge and will according to the company clean the computer at the same time. The problem for the customer is that these cartridges are extremely expensive and do not always performs better than non-generic replacements.

There are now a number of companies producing ink cartridges that will fit a whole range of printers that perform equally as well as those that you are initially recommended to acquire. They will not damage the printer and on many occasions for a far smaller price will produce more copies.

The Environment

In the environmentally conscious world in which we now live the way in which we dispose of used cartridges is a matter of concern and thus the recycling of these is now a growing business. You may take your old cartridge to a shop where they will refill it with the ink that is suitable for your printer and then reseal it. These cartridges are not suitable in general for business use but for home use they are entirely capable of performing the job.

The quality of the print that you require will of course determine the type of ink cartridge that you buy, but cost is not always the prime factor as can be seen from the above.  Sometimes you will want to print a photograph on to the best paper available and the quality of the ink for this is essential.

Competition is Increasing

It is also interesting to note that many retailers are now offering special price deals on the products of big name printer manufacturers and this is an indication that the competition in this area is now hitting home. It may be that they are still too expensive for home use but certainly for businesses they are a good buy. Once in a while it may be wise to buy a full price cartridge, as it may clean your printer.
