With so many Kindle covers and cases available it can often be hard to find the best Kindle cover. This article reviews different styles of Kindle cases.
Locating the best case or cover for your model of Kindle ereader is truly a challenge. Because there is such a variety of cases and covers to choose from, your search for the best one can quickly turn into more unanswered questions. One of the best places to start your search is simply by understanding which styles of cases and covers are currently available. This article will review four styles of Kindle cases, so by the end you’ll have a better idea of what style of case could be best for you.
Let’s start with a relatively cheap cover which is also one of the more common styles- Rubberized Kindle cases. The popularity of this type of cover spreads far beyond the Kindle and ranges across the board for mobile gadgets. Rubber Kindle covers usually have a one piece design which is form fitting. More commonly rubberized Kindle cases are made from silicone. It is important to find a rubber cover which has all the necessary cut outs for the keyboard, charging port, speakers, etc.
Another common type of
Kindle cover, which is also considered one of the more styles covers are leather Kindle cases. Leather cases range in design and include a variety of features. Leather and faux leather (synthetic leather) cases range in price. Some cost as little as rubberized cases, while others cost over one hundred dollars. I like this type of case because there is great variety from cover to cover. Leather covers can include reading lights, built in storage pockets and even adjustable reading stands.
The third style of case is very compact and great for anyone who’d like to keep the look and feel of a Kindle without a cover. This style of case is referred to as a skin. Kindle skins are incredibly compact and light weight. Skins weigh only a few ounces and are as thin as paper. This style of cover does little in the way to protect from major drops and falls but will do a great job of stopping scratches and scrapes. Skins do have thousands of design options, with the option of making your own custom skin as well. They can also work in combination with a range of protective covers.
The last style of cover is just the opposite of skins- hard protective covers. Thick protective cases provide incredibly protection from any drops or bumps your Kindle might face. The biggest disadvantage to this style of cover is their weight and lack of unique design. This type of case most commonly has a two piece design which connect to securely protect your Kindle 3, Kindle DX or Kindle 2 ereader.
Kindle cases and covers do vary greatly in both price and design. By having an idea of what styles of covers are available, choosing the right style of case can be an easier task. One of the easiest ways to start your search is by understanding both your budget and the basics of what styles of cases are available. Together these two factors will allow you to more easily hone in your search.
