Electronic components and our everyday life

Electronic components have changed our lives.  We may not realise the presence of them in the everyday equipment we use, but the first thing you do in the morning is to use an electronic component. You will no longer place the kettle on the cooker to boil, and then take it off when the steam starts pouring from the spout. You will turn on the switch of the kettle and then, when the kettle boils, the electronic switch will turn itself off. You will then put your toast in the toaster and, when it is ready, a heat sensor will trigger the toaster to eject the toast.
 

Motor cars

The days of points and a carburetor are long gone as these days electronic ignition is the method. The whole functioning of the motor is electronically controlled to the point where if the car is not performing to par, the car is diagnosed electronically. The driver will be able to see from his on board computer what the fuel consumption is, what the temperature outside of the car is and if all the components are functioning correctly. It may well be that electronic components add to the smooth running of a car, but the ability to perform home mechanics has diminished.

Computers

Computers that have revolutionized our lives are full of electronic components, from circuit boards through to switches. The progress from main frame computers through to notebooks is not only due to a better understanding of computer technology, but also to the fact that the evolution of electronic components has meant that transistors are now replaced by boards which are so thin, that a computer can now be less than an inch thick.

Mobile phones

Mobile phones have progressed from the bricks they were when they first came on the market, to the ultra slim models that are now available and are able to receive Internet and e-mail. They can also be used for the playing of games, all thanks to the development in electronic components.

Electronic components have changed our lives and can now be used to make the lives of the disabled so much better in many ways including prosthetic limbs.
