Electronic components have changed our lifestyles

Where would you be without your mobile, your iPhone, your MP3 player or your remote control? Yes, all of these things have electronic components that are designed to make our lives easier, and to ensure that we can be in touch with friends and family wherever we are. Take the chip out of these items and they will not function.

Chips

When you change the SIM in your phone you will see a gold coloured oblong piece that you need to ensure is correctly fitted. Once fitted you phone will become activated and you can talk and text to your heart’s content.  The bankcard that you have will almost certainly be chip and PIN. The chip contains all the information that the bank holds on your account, so that once activated by the PIN, you can use the ‘hole in the wall’. Chips are present in some many items that we use on a daily basis and we never give them a second thought. They have removed the need for many bulky electronic parts, and thus we can now have slim line phones, MP3 players and computers and fall in line with fashion trends.

Microwaves and other White Goods

Microwaves have made life much easier for people and they are full of electronic components, from the electronic panel being the control panel which you push to select the correct function, through to the sensors which will heat your food to the required temperature, and then arrange for the microwave to bleep so that you know the cooking is finished. You now have a washing machine with so many functions that you almost need a degree to operate it. The functions are all driven by electronic components that will determine the temperature, the speed of the wash, and the speed of the spin and when the dispensers should release their contents.

Motor Vehicles

You can now unlock your vehicle from some distance away so that if you are carry shopping you no longer need to struggle with the keys when you get to the car. The remote control will also activate the headlights of a car in the dark so that you can see where the car is parked.
