Healthy eating and diet plans work perfectly well as long as you eat at home and you can prepare your own lunch and take it to your office. But things seem to go out of control when you are invited to have dinner at a restaurant. If you have an invitation to eat out next week end and you are planning to say that you are busy, seriously ill or that your beloved aunt has just invited you to a trip to Timbuktu and you will not be in town for Saturday, you should better go on reading. Here you will find a lot of tips to enjoy dinner at a restaurant or bar without ruining all your dieting efforts. To begin with, avoid not eating at all during the big day. Doing that will only lead you to be extremely hungry and there are great chances that you will end up ordering the most caloric, oily and fatty meal from the menu, the biggest sundae ice cream for desert and that you will eat all the bread in the bread basket. Take your meals just as indicated in your meal plan and try to take a hearty dish of soup just before going out. Thus, your stomach will be less empty and you will not be desperately eating bread or cookies before the meal arrives. When the waiter comes with the menu, it is a good idea to order what you are going to drink first. If there is a free salad bar feel free to choose as many salads and combination of vegetables as you want. You will just have to be careful to choose only a little of those that are seasoned with lots of mayonnaise or Caeasar’s sauce. When you order from the menu, just relax and try to avoid those meals that are highly caloric. Ask the waiter if you can have half the portion or ask somebody else in the table to share the dish with you. Read the menu carefully. Some restaurants offer light versions of their dishes, have special meals for those counting their calories and other similar offers that can make your eating out experience not so complicated. If you plan to eat meat, ask the waiter to tell the cook to remove all the extra fat before cooking it and, if you plan to ask for chicken, ask if it can be prepared without the skin.
