You generally won't find too many blue shoes in the sea of black, white and cream shoes on the market. For high heels however, they are actually quite charming and elegant. Having said that, most people don't really go shopping for them unless they come across a pair that really catches their eye. For those looking for something beyond the common white's and beige's, perhaps blue can add a dash of personality to the outfit.

From our seas to the skies above, blue is linked with many things. It is also beautiful that is both serene and calm. If you're not too sure on how to match them, you may want to stick to darker shades. On the other hand, the brighter shades are almost always eye-catching. You're not going to run into many older women wearing them for lunch. It also requires a certain personality to pull it off. If you're looking to make a statement, then look no further than electric blues. However, stay away from formal events. For a particularly elegant color to go with, try Royal and Navy Blue. Always remember that contrast works best when working with dark blues. Avoid pairing them with equally dark colors at all costs.

As such, stick to bright colors like light beige and cream. For bright colors, they do quite well with strong colors. Floral patterns on bright dresses work fine along with light blue jeans and skirts. If you use stockings, the contrast between them and the shoe is also quite pretty. For short skirts, black stockings or leggings are the way to go. Shoes that show off a bit of skin like strappy heels and peep toe's also provide nice contrast. If there is one color that seems to go well with blue, it is pink. Knowing the color to pick is only half the battle as you'll have to select from a myriad of shoe styles. You can choose ballet pumps, mary jane shoes or platform heels just to name a few.

There are plenty of styles that are perfect for casual applications like pumps. For something sexy for both casual and formal wear, try court shoes. Court shoes are some of the best choices if you want something simple, sexy and elegant. They are essentially plain high heels that usually do not have any adornments. For that reason, their strength lies in their simplicity. Not just a great choice for blue, they are the perfect match for red as well. Overall, if you're after something unique and charming, the various shades of blue on the market will not disappoint.
