Many parents opt to enrol their preschool children to do preschool activities before their education starts. Children aged between three and four years old are currently entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education which can take place in nurseries, playgroups or at preschool where the children enjoy preschool activities. If a nursery is part of the state education, there is no cost however private nurseries cost from £800 per term. Preschools and playgroups that offer preschool activities provide part-time play and early learning and are usually run by voluntary groups, preschools and playgroups. Three and four years can usually use their 15 hours allowance at these places. Many of the preschool activities are aimed at young children to equip them with basic skills before they start compulsory education. Preschool activities are predominately aimed at children aged between 18 months and 6 years old. The main aim of preschool activities is for the child to develop preschool skills through various fun preschool activities. Children who are exposed to preschool activities build their confidence in interacting with other children and also build confidence in their skills and ability allowing them to develop their skills even further. Social and basic academic skills are taught therefore the child should be at a more advanced level by the time they reach compulsory school age. Preschool activities are suitable for children who have already started nursery – as the child develops he or she will move onto more advanced preschool activities as they start seeking new challenges.

Children would expect preschool activities to help them develop their physical, creativity and academic skills. Preschool activities include arts and crafts, cooking, dance and music, physical games and learning about birthdays and holidays. For rainy days, there are plenty of indoor preschool activities to choose from including Indoor Treasure Hunt Game where small toys, books or snacks are hidden and the children need to follow the clues or a map.
