Millions of people all over the world play and enjoy sports and, whether your chosen sport is swimming, boxing or dance, the competition is what you strive to win and succeeding requires a great deal of hard work, planning and dedication.

Coming from a dancer’s background myself, some of my most memorable moments are from my competition days where all the hard work and commitment I put into my routines in the studio really paid off when I got to perform them in front of a live audience cheering on my every move. However, my competitions wouldn’t have been as excited had I not had fabulous printed fabric costumes to wear, which allowed me to get into character.

If you are looking for your first dance competition costume, there are a variety of different materials to choose from but lycra is by far the best and most comfortable fabric to move around in. However, if you are looking to stand out from the crowd, go for a printed fabric to enhance your look and give you the confidence you need to top the judge’s score cards without spending a fortune.

Printed fabric leotards are available in a wide variety of designs, including animal prints, psychedelic prints and artistic prints in a mind-blowing array of colours, to suit your personality and individual style. However, if you don’t want to wear a leotard, you could fashion your chosen printed fabric into a unitard, a pair of leggings or even a catsuit to achieve your desired look.

After choosing what type of fabric you want for your competition costume, you may want to check out your local dancewear retailer to see if they have something to suit your choice. However, if you don’t find anything you like, don’t be disappointed because dancewear shops often provide a bespoke service where you can provide them with your own printed fabric, a brief of what you want your costume to look like and they will create it to your exact specifications.
