Advertising is a form of brand-centric communication that attempts to persuade the interest of customers or prospective buyers to buy or purchase the advertised brand or product.

Advertising is a form of brand-centric communication that attempts to persuade the interest of customers or prospective buyers to buy or purchase the advertised brand or product. An advertising message talks about the features or benefits of the brand and also insinuates how customers can benefit by purchasing the brand. Every brand or business is advertised firstly to generate awareness or create buzz about the brand/business and secondly to enhance sales.  Though the main objective of an advertising campaign is to generate maximum revenue, an ad campaign cannot guarantee sale of the product or business. The ad message is presented in an informative manner so that customers find it useful and are encouraged to buy or purchase it. A brand owner can advertise his product or business through various mediums of advertising network such as-

Presentation of brand message varies from one advertising media to another. However, the message or main theme may remain the same. Through television advertising, the brand owner presents his brand message with audio-visual effects while through print advertising media, the brand owner presents the brand message in a written format. The variance in medium of advertising may also provide different impact on customers mind.

It is quite a tricky matter to present an advertising message of a brand- calling for customers’ attention and persuading them to buy the product. A thorough understanding of customers’ buying behavioral norms is also important to effectively deliver the brand message. Advertising is considered superfluous by some critics. If advertising was unimportant why it has been accredited as the most important marketing tool? These few questions explain why advertising is important for any brand or service to promote itself in the market. Words and design play two important roles while beautifying the brand message. The right words or design can provide a strong appeal on customers about the brand. A strong appeal is synonymous to a readiness from customers’ part to buy or adopt the advertised brand. It is therefore important for any advertiser to provide a strong brand communication through the use of an appealing design and copy.

Secondly, the medium or channel of advertising plays another major role. The advertising medium is the one and only means for customers to go through the brand message. A strong media vehicle easily and quickly delivers the brand message amongst target groups with a desired or targeted impact. It is therefore another important criterion for any advertiser to launch his advertising campaign through an effective channel of communication. Media planners can plan and suggest an effective channel of advertising the brand amongst TG.

Advertising is an ongoing marketing practice that is meant to beautify the brand and present it as something attractive. Therefore, it plays a major role while positioning any brand in the market.
