How to Lose Belly Fat

Discovering how to lose belly fat is one of those questions that seem to get asked over and over again for me being that I'm a personal trainer. Most people already know that just by losing belly fat you'll be healthier but the truth is mostly people care about is looking better in their swimsuit on the beach. From my experience as a personal trainer I've discovered most people don't really care about being healthy and in fact would rather look good naked but whatever their motivation is it's going to be important to make some lifestyle changes. It's honestly not the easiest thing to lose belly fat but it's far from impossible and it's also going take some hard work in implementing some simple strategies. The most important first step is going to be to understand what's going to cause you to gain belly fat and to obviously stop doing that in a healthy and natural way.


Obviously one of the main reasons you gain belly fat in the first place is from consuming way too many calories than your body needs and thus these extra calories will be stored as fat on the body. Also way too many people live a sedentary lifestyle which leads them to gain belly fat along with their overconsumption of processed carbohydrates and other foods high in sugar and artificial sweeteners. The reason these foods will cause you to gain belly fat is because they'll cause your blood sugar levels to spike and thus your body will release the hormone insulin to bring them back down to normal levels. But when insulin levels are high in the body you'll naturally put your body into a fat storing mode and as your blood sugar goes tumbling back down you'll crave more of the sugary and processed carbohydrates leading to a roller coaster effect.


Also way too many people have the wrong idea on the best exercises to lose belly fat and they waste their time doing situps and crunches all day long. But the most effective means of losing belly fat through exercise is going to be intense cardio combined with strength training exercises. This training method will help burn more calories and tone up your body faster than any other form of exercise and situps and crunches should be added supplemental to this type of training. Many people are unaware that high-intensity interval training is nine times more effective at burning fat than standard steady state cardio. So instead of going on long jogs I would instead recommend doing more sprinting which will cause your metabolism to boost therefore burning more belly fat off your body. 


The last part of the equation is knowing what foods you should be eating to lose belly fat and the number one answer I can give you is going to be to eat plenty of vegetables, healthy fats and lean protein sources. I would always go with these foods over processed, sugary, dairy and grain food sources. Unfortunately there are no quick shortcuts when it comes to losing belly fat but if you're finally serious about making a change in your life then you've already taken the first step. Take it one day at a time and just because you don't see immediate results doesn't mean that you're not taking steps in the right direction. To get a flat belly it is going to take a lot of discipline so make sure you're well prepared and plan out your meals and workouts in advance to see the highest level of success.
