Frozen Yoghurt - The Most Delicious Low Calorie Snack
Each year we see an increase in the average weight of our citizens. More and more people are becoming overweight or obese as the years go by. This is a very worrying trend which has many negative health implications. Overweight and obese people are more likely to suffer from a range of life threatening illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It is very important that we all do everything we can to maintain a more healthy weight. This is not always easy when we are presented with so many delicious and unhealthy foods, such as pizza and ice cream, but, one way we can cut out the calories whilst keeping flavour, is to switch to healthy options of our favourite foods.
Ditch The Ice Cream For Frozen Yoghurt
One of the foods which is beloved by overweight and thin people alike is ice cream. This delicious frozen treat is sweet, creamy and indulgent but it is also filled with hundreds of empty calories which will immediately turn to fat. Luckily for us, there is an alternative to ice cream which is just as delicious as its fuller figured sister: frozen yoghurt. Frozen yoghurt is similar in taste and texture to ice cream, but it has far fewer calories and can even be eaten by people who are trying to lose weight, on a healthy eating plan, although moderation is still vital.
What Is Frozen Yoghurt?
Frozen yoghurt is a frozen dessert which is made from milk and yoghurt. It is much healthier than ice cream because it uses milk rather than cream, which has many times more calories than milk. Frozen yoghurt is usually sweetened with artificial sweeteners, too, which again means that it is a much better option than ice cream.
Frozen yoghurt is made in much the same way as ice cream. Milk is churned in an ice cream maker along with gelatine, in order to get it to a thick and creamy consistency. Yogurt powder is then added to the mix before it is frozen at zero degrees Celsius for four to five hours, before being served.
